I Built My Dream Minimalist Desk Setup

I rebuilt my workspace into a clean floating desk setup with wall repair, custom shelving, hidden cables, and better lighting.

Desk Setup Content Creation Workspace Design YouTube

Video summary

I transformed a simple desk nook into a cleaner workspace for coding and content creation. The starting setup worked, but the table legs took up legroom, the laptop/monitor arm looked awkward, the lamp created uneven lighting, and the walls and trim needed a lot of repair. The video shows the whole rebuild from empty nook to finished floating desk setup.

What I built

I removed the shelf, sanded and spot-primed exposed wood, filled gaps, skim-coated rough wall panels, primed and painted the nook, and repaired paint issues that showed up during the process. For the desk itself, I cut leftover butcher block to fit the space, installed trim supports with a laser level, added a matching shelf, mounted a wall monitor arm, and 3D printed cable channels to hide ethernet and power cables.

Creator focus

The project was about making my everyday workspace easier to use on camera and off camera. I focused on reducing clutter, opening up legroom, improving the shelf lighting with an LED strip, keeping the desk surface clear, and making the setup look intentional without becoming impractical. It also became a good creator workflow video because it combined planning, fabrication, troubleshooting, product placement for my habit tracker, and a finished reveal.
